Sherman Ming Chow was born in China on October 10, 1935, and came to Canada in 1946.
After finishing High School in Ottawa, he attended MIT and graduated in 1957 with a degree in electrical engineering. He went on to study at Cornell University, where he graduated with a master’s degree in electrical engineering. He worked for a few years as an engineer for Canadian General Electric in Toronto. His last 25 years of his working life were spent as a research engineer for the Communications Research Centre in Ottawa. He retired in 1995.
He is survived by his wife, Helen Ying Fung.
Sherman was a lifelong downhill skier and a long-distance bicyclist.
He passed away on September 10, 2025, in Ottawa.
