Irene MacNaught

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Irene MacNaught (née D’Aoust), who passed away peacefully in hospital with her son by her side.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Robert John MacNaught and the much-loved mother of Steven (Pamela) and Todd. Cherished daughter of the late Fleurette D’Aoust (née Charbonneau) and Aurèle D’Aoust.

Dear sister of Marie Longtin, wife of the late Phil Longtin, and was predeceased by her siblings Yvon D’Aoust, husband of Kathleen Flaherty; Helen Hammond (née D’Aoust), wife of Robert Hammond; Cécile D’Aoust; and Françoise D’Aoust.

Irene was a proud and loving aunt to Paul, Theresa, and Denise D’Aoust; Gilles and Lynne Hammond; and Monique and Guy Longtin.

She was also a cherished great-aunt to Pierre and Sylvie; Alexandre and Jeremy; Stacie (the late Steve); Caroline and Jean-Marc; Jessica; and Stephane. Irene will be fondly remembered by her extended family, friends, and all whose lives she touched over the years.

Irene will be remembered for her quiet strength, her resilience, and the love she carried for her family. She was a gentle and compassionate person who loved her family dearly, and she served as a mentor to many throughout her life. She was known for her deep love of animals and her kindness toward them, always showing care and compassion to those in her life, both human and animal alike. Her steady presence brought comfort to those around her, and she leaves behind a legacy of kindness, strength, and generosity that will not be forgotten.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at the Civic Hospital - Floor A2 - for the compassionate care and support provided during her final days.

A visitation will be held at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Road, on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, from 11:00 a.m. until the time of service at 1:00 p.m. Interment will be held at Notre Dame Cemetery at a later date.
