Walter passed away peacefully on October 10, 2020.

Son of the late John and Florence Loye of Halifax, Nova Scotia. He is survived by his wife Alma (Billard) of over sixty years and his sons Robert (Linda) and David (Rhonda). Proud Grandfather and Papa to Mark (Stephanie), Christopher, Matthew and Great Grandfather to Allison and Kaitlyn.  Walter was also known as Bernie, Buddy or just Bud to his late Brother Harry (Edith), Sister in-law Cora (AL), and Aunt Phyllis (Graham). He is also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins in Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and across Canada.

Walter was born in Halifax and where he met Alma, the love of his life while starting his career as a pressman with the Chronicle Herald. Later, he moved his young family west to settle in Ottawa and continued working with the Ottawa Citizen for close to thirty years until his retirement. He will be remembered as a devoted husband with an incredible will to persevere and overcome life’s obstacles. Due to the current Covid-19 restrictions, a private family gathering will be held. Burial to take place at Highland Park Cemetery.
