Carson , Richard Lee

Richard Carson passed away peacefully in his sleep at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on January 6, 2022. He leaves behind his nephew Louis Carson of Laguna Beach California and his cousin Madge Kistner of Boulder Colorado, as well as his dear friends Irina Smith and Alex Davidson of Ottawa.
Richard was Professor of Economics at Carleton University from 1965 to 2005 and Professor Emeritus from 2005 until his passing. He is the author of multiple publications and of two books, Comparative Economic Systems, Volumes 1 and 2. He founded and endowed Carleton University’s Scholarship in Comparative Economics.
Richard will be very fondly remembered by his many friends, colleagues and particularly the thousands of students whose lives he enriched. We are very grateful for the excellent care provided for Richard at Lord Lansdown Retirement Residence, particularly by the medical staff led by Judith Vidal.
A memorial service honouring his life will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, January 16, 2022 at the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 403 Richmond Road, Ottawa, ON.
