On Thursday, March 9, 2023, Lewis Triemstra went to be with his Lord at the age of 81.  Loving husband of Carol (nee deHaan).  Dear father of Bruce Triemstra, Paul (Kim) Triemstra, Christine (Arthur) Vander Ploeg, and Melissa (David) Wildeboer.  Beloved Pake to 2 grandsons, Nathan Vander Ploeg and Lewis Triemstra, and to 5 granddaughters, Emily Vander Ploeg, Marika, Calli, and Esther Wildeboer, and Lennea Triemstra.  Cherished uncle to many nephews and nieces.  He is predeceased by 5 brothers and 3 sisters.

Lewis was born in Friesland in 1941 and immigrated to Canada with his family to Ottawa in 1951.  He graduated from Ryerson Polytechnical Institute with a C.E.T. in 1964.  He loved building things, and he loved building things as a team member.  He worked for Patterson Group as a concrete tester, Adjeleian Associates as a structural engineer.  In 1972 he established Tristan Construction Inc. which constructed many commercial, industrial and institutional buildings in Ottawa.  He then worked for Westeinde Construction, Aecon Construction, and consulted for BBS Construction.  Lewis was also instrumental in strengthening and growing Ottawa Christian School and Redeemer Christian High School.

He loved his family passionately.  He delighted in watching his children grow and establish themselves.  His grandchildren were a delight to him.  Another passion of his was sailing.  As a teenager he joined Britannia Yacht Club and enjoyed crewing before skippering his own sailboat.  Lewis loved the Lord and was a faithful member of Calvin CRC.

Visitation will be held at Calvin Christian Reformed Church, 1475 Merivale Rd., Nepean, on Sunday, March 12th from 2-4 and 6-8 pm.  Funeral service will be held in the Church on Monday, March 13th at 10 am followed by burial at Capital Memorial Gardens.  Reception will follow back at the church.
