Walters – John (Jack)

1929-2020

With great sadness we announce that after several months of declining health, Jack passed away peacefully at home on Friday, June 5, 2020, with family at his side.  Leaving to mourn his wife Hannelore of 64 years; and his daughter Barbara, as well as his devoted canine buddy Emma.  Also leaving his special nephew Reg Walters (Elizabeth) of St John’s NL. Jack worked for the Government of Canada Revenue Agency (Customs) for 40 years, and was a long time member of the CLB band in St John’s where he resided until 1988, when he and Hannelore moved to Ottawa.  He leaves many nieces and nephews in Newfoundland and Ottawa and across Canada, as well as Hannelore’s family in Germany.  Jack was an avid sportsman, loved trout and salmon fishing, berry picking, skiing and golf.  The family wish to thank the exceptional PSWs of Carefour; the entire nursing team from Bayshore and the coordinators of Champlain LHIN for their excellent service and care.  A special thanks to Dr Leonard Bloom for many years of dedicated care right up to Jack’s final days.  In light of Jack’s lifelong love of animals, those wishing to make a memorial donation, please consider your local animal shelter or rescue.  According to Jack’s wishes the funeral will be private. A celebration of life will be held at a later date when family and friends can once again gather together.  Arrangements entrusted to the care of Tubman Funeral Homes, Kars Chapel.
