November 8, 1930-April 27, 2022

Passed peacefully at home in his 92nd year.  He is mourned by his sons James, Andrew (Paula) and Thomas (Julie).  Loving Grampy to Emma, Nicole, Kristen, and Grant.  John is predeceased by his dear “Patsy” Patricia, wife of 63 years, his sister Joan Lay and his brother Peter Shaver.

John was born in Ottawa, attended Ottawa Tech High School and Royal Military College, Kingston.  He was active in Christ Church Cathedral youth group where he met Patricia.  John enjoyed a long career at the National Research Council, Fire Codes and Standards, and was active in Army Reserve, 30th Field Regiment.  Upon retirement in 1985, John and Patricia were avid Scottish country dancers with St. Andrew’s Scottish country dance society.  They were longstanding members of Christ Church Bells Corners.

Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean, on Friday, May 27th at 7 p.m. until time of service in the chapel at 8 p.m.
