Herman Vandenbeld

Peacefully on Saturday November 28, 2020 in the arms of his beloved wife of 52 years Maria. Loving Papa of Anita Vandenbeld (Don Dransfield) and Melinda Vandenbeld Giles and Opa of Maya Vandenbeld Giles.

Born January 9, 1940 in Deventer, Netherlands, he immigrated to Canada through Pier 21 in 1960 with his parents and his 3 younger siblings John, Annemieke and Martin who all settled in Calgary.

He was an opera buff who loved to sing, camping in the Rocky Mountains, motorbikes and the arts. He was also dedicated to his piano tuning business for over 40 years.

A private family service was held.  For those wishing, a memorial donation in Herman’s memory to the Calgary Opera would be appreciated.
