Ernest George Grubb

September 1, 1927 ~ March 9, 2023 (age 95) 95 Years Old

Tributes

Passed peacefully on March 9, 2023 at the age of 95 with family by his side.  Survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Mae Grubb (nee Mawson) and pre-deceased by his second wife MaryEllen.  George leaves behind his loving sister Evelyn Robertson, his six children - Kathy Fraser (Wayne), Fran Carpenter, Peter (Judy) of Napanee, Carol Crabb of Victoria, Linda Cook (Dave), Kevin (Suzy) as well as MaryEllen’s sons Jim Jensen (Joanne) and Al Jensen (Corinne) of Nanaimo BC. George will also be fondly remembered by his 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

George was very proud of having served as a paratrooper toward the end of the Second World War and his status as a veteran. After the war, followed by a few years of farming in Edwards, he joined Spartan Air Service in the early 1950’s until he joined the helicopter section of the Federal Ministry of Transport, where he worked until his retirement in 1986. George was an avid golfer well into his late 80’s, playing for years as a member of Hylands Golf Club and then at the Ottawa Hunt and Golf Club.

Thank you to the staff and residents of Landmark Court, especially his good friend Bridget Lusignan, for his happy years there and a very big thank you to the kind and caring staff at The Perley for taking such good care of him during his final years. His sense of humour and quick wit will be sorely missed by all.

Private family service will be held in the spring. If you wish to leave a donation in George’s memory, please consider the Perley & Rideau Veterans’ Health Centre Foundation or the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County.
