With broken hearts, we share the passing of a beautiful soul. On January 16, 2026, our precious William Olivier Muratori-Dousett, at age 18, passed 3 weeks short of his 19th birthday, with his loving mom by his side holding his hands. Dearly and forever remembered by his Maman (Nancy Muratori), Dad (Dick Dousett), and little brother (Thomas Nicolas Muratori-Dousett) of Luskville QC, both his grandmothers Monique and Charlotte, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
Olivier was a shining star who showed everyone how to live with kindness, authenticity and courage, even in the toughest times. Olivier fought a rare, aggressive bone cancer for 4 years with such grace, dignity, strength and determination from the age of 15, when he should have been out with friends. Olivier's battle ended, but the disease never took his light. Despite these years being extremely rough, Olivier still smiled, made everyone laugh and always had something interesting to share. His brilliance and originality caught people off guard. Olivier was wise way beyond his years. He always had a very realistic, but positive, outlook throughout. He never shied from the truth of the disease and was fearless. He always faced news, however terrible, with unbelievable courage and strength, never asking why him. In facing his mortality head-on, he chose to embody love and strength, never indulging in self-pity. Whenever faced with awful news, he always found a joke that made his family, doctors and nurses laugh. Olivier cared deeply for his family, friends and animals, and was so thoughtful. He didn't want anyone to be sad, thinking of us instead of himself. He even apologized for dying on such short notice, the day before, being sorry for making his loved ones sad, with his unique humour.
Olivier gave back by advocating for cancer research at 7 cancer fundraisers and giving memorable speeches. During his last summer, Olivier was able to work as a Camp counselor for sick children and he absolutely loved it - even as it was extremely hard physically, with chemo and prosthetic leg or crutches, the camp being on steep hills. He was super amazing at it, having a tremendous impact on the campers, his colleagues and the Camp, with his positive energy and humour. He gave the Camp a sound system as a legacy so the staff room could enjoy good music. Earlier that same year, two and a half months after having half a lung removed, Olivier performed and sang in 5 showings of the school musical and that, the day after receiving a new prosthetic leg. With so much school missed, he only joined the musical last minute when someone dropped out, went to only 4 rehearsals in all, managing to learn songs, queues, choreographies and deliver fantastic performances with aplomb. He was really happy to finally participate as an actor in a high school musical after missing opportunities two years prior due to the disease. Olivier helped out with every highschool play since he was 3. He was a member of the crew for grades 7-8-9. Despite missing most of grade 10, he was able to participate by prop building and being the official photographer. Olivier enjoyed 2 years of football; even if he was the smallest boy, he was one of the fastest. As a little kid, Olivier enjoyed football practices as his Dad coached, sometimes being their water boy. Olivier often dazzled the entire crowd when carrying a huge heavy tray full of water bottles, at arm's length, at a spectacular speed. It was something to see! One day, a girl shouted from the stands ''I love you Water Boy''.
Olivier had a special gift for making people feel at ease. He inspired and energized those around him with his contagious spirit. Olivier was a kind-hearted soul who'd always make time for lonely souls at school. He was a ferociously loyal and protective friend. Olivier was an honest, straightforward and moral man. He wasn't afraid to speak his mind, be genuine, compassionate and stand up for the underdog. He accepted everyone as they were, and was very open-minded. He had friends of every kind, color and gender. His light and presence are deeply missed but we are all better people for having met Olivier.
Olivier lived a life defined by curiosity, humour, deep learning, a love of music and his BeamNG driving game. He also deeply enjoyed singing to his favorite rock artists or blasting the music while driving. He was a talented and passionate photographer. Olivier loved sunsets by the river, our cabin - his favorite place on earth, savouring good food, and joking and laughing around a table. Olivier's laugh and enthusiasm for things he loved was contagious. Olivier also dearly loved his cats Bobby and Blackie, saving and caring for them since the age of 3. In his last year, Olivier embraced life to the fullest with laughter, warmth, courage and positivity. He showed us all how to live life. He especially cherished spending time with his beloved friends. Olivier will be remembered for his light, loving deeply and so freely, his beautiful soul, amazing mind, caring heart and brilliant humour. ''Olivier, it was a privilege to know you. You will always live in our hearts. You remain an inspiration and a true legend - and legends never die.''
Special thanks to the exceptional staff of the Roger Neilson Hospice and CHEO for their loving care, many of whom Olivier really appreciated.
