After a long life well lived, Bill leaves behind the love of his life and wife of 58 years Kathryn (Skinner); children Karen (Stan Kacmarik), Alison Cumminger (Ervin), Ann Noonan (Steven) and Blair (Nancy); grandchildren Alicia, Laura, Darcy, Alexander, Olivia, Paige, Austin and Katarina; brother Robert (Carol) and nephew David. He was predeceased by many fine gun dogs.
Bill had a rich and varied career starting as a social worker with the Renfrew County Children's Aid and over 20 years at the Addiction Research Foundation. He was an avid hunter, fisherman and naturalist and, along with Kathryn, owned Kipewa Kennels and The Sportsman's Cabinet bookstore. He raised and trained Brittany spaniels and was a columnist for three American outdoor magazines. Bill was a jazz lover, an antiquarian book collector and a maple syrup maker. Thanks to the staff of the Queensway Carleton Hospital and Ottawa General Hospital for their compassionate care. A memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital or the Ottawa Mission would be appreciated. Tributes, donations and condolences may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com.
