GERVIN, William John (Bill) RCAF – WW II.
On Tuesday, September 27th at utmost peace in hospital, Bill passed away just shy of his 98th birthday. Predeceased by his cherished wife, Hilda. Loving father of David (Julie) and Karen (David Deme). Grandfather to Jonathan, Tara (Lévis) and Sasha (Jean-François), Andrew (Dacoda), Sarah, Grant, and Great Grandfather to Félix and Alix. Predeceased by his sister, Betty Lunney. Also survived by his many nieces and nephews.
Often referred to as a quiet gentleman and known for putting others first, he also had a quick wit and sense of humour. Bill met his girl Hilly from Fallowfield, Ontario, married her and subsequently took her all over the world with his government career. He also took her on numerous trips across Canada and the United States for square dancing jamborees, and they spent winters in Clearwater Beach, Florida. When not travelling the couple enjoyed life in Ottawa’s McKellar Park area and eventually Kanata (Pinehill Estates) where his favorite moments were Wednesday Coffee Mornings and Friday Happy Hours at the Clubhouse. Always inquisitive, he often said “a day when you don’t learn something is a wasted day”
