Coyne, William “Bill” Thomas Herbert

November 2, 1948 – January 8, 2026

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of William “Bill” Coyne on January 8, 2026 at the age of 77 with family and friends by his side.

Bill, an infinitely kind, patient and thoughtful man was deeply loved by all who knew him; Inveterate fisherman, supportive and professional co-worker, avid PEI vacationer, well-read and worldly, Bill and his trademark laugh brightened many a day. Remarkably, he always had time for those around him, a listener of genuine curiosity and concern. In retirement he drove patients to appointments and helped his dear brother manage his HVAC empire.

Bill was a devoted husband of 25 years to his beloved Line; a proud father of Kelly Ann; doting grandfather to Claire. Loyal brother of Robert (Nancy); uncle of David, Sean, Michele and Rowan. Cherished sisters-in-law Dorothy (Bob), Catherine, Hilary, Sylvia (Andy) and Andrea; uncle of Amanda, Emily and Elizabeth and many grand-nieces and nephews.

Bill will also be dearly missed by close friends Ken & Christine, Ryan and Dawn and countless others. Bill was predeceased by his parents Thomas Peter and Mary Ann Coyne (nee Rothwell), wife Stephanie (nee Berthelet) and brother-in-law Robert “Bob” Berthelet.

The family will be having a private cremation followed by a celebration of life later in 2026.

The Coyne family wishes to extend our deepest gratitude to all of the staff at Saint-Vincent’s Palliative Care Unit and the staff of 6E at The Ottawa General Hospital.
