Wendy Ruth Knapp Sauve

July 15, 1962 — July 31, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Wendy Ruth Knapp Sauve, who left this world peacefully in her home on July 31, 2025, at the age of 63. Born on July 15, 1962, in Ottawa, ON, Wendy was a beloved daughter, wife, mother, sister, and friend whose warmth and joy touched the lives of all who knew her.

Wendy leaves behind her dear husband of 39 years, Greg Sauve, as well as her two children, Amanda and Scott Sauve, her mother, Ruth Knapp, and her brother Jeffrey Knapp. She is predeceased by her father, Robert Knapp. Her absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Wendy was well known for her charisma and humour; even in the darkest of moments, she could find an opportunity for a joke. She was able to fill any silence with warmth and character, and found every opportunity to tell riveting stories, able to make even the dullest journeys to the store into epic tales of intrigue.

Wendy worked for many years as a First Responder and Fire Rescue operator in Constance Bay, being one of the founding members of that branch. She pioneered The Bay Waves Square Dancing chapter, as well as being an active member of other square dancing clubs throughout the city. She was an actress with Kanata Theatre and Rural Root Theatre Company, as well as a singer with A Capital Sound (formerly The Capital Chordettes). Wendy found immense joy in performing, whether it was for an audience of one or one thousand.

Wendy had a love of travel, plants, and animals. Friends and family often joined her on yearly camping trips, collected around a campfire, and celebrating nature - all within the comfort of a trailer. Wendy could spend hours fussing over various plants in the kitchen or garden, admiring their colours and designs. And she would often joke that the hours of content that she watched on animal care made her an honorary veterinarian, something appreciated by the family dog, Smudge.

As we remember Wendy, we celebrate her life and the indelible mark she left on our hearts. Her legacy of love, humour, and resilience will continue to inspire those who were fortunate enough to know her.

Funeral and visitation details will be arranged and shared with family and friends in the coming days.
