Walter Stoiber

Walter Stoiber (Opah, Pappa) 91 years of age, passed away at the Ottawa Civic Hospital on August 13, 2022 after a short illness. Walter is survived by his wife of 52 years, Dorothy, sisters Tony and Phinney, daughter Chris, son Mark, step children Randy, Gerry and Cindy, beloved grandchildren John, Scott, Adam, Jasmine, Matthew, Shane (deceased), Leah, Shawn, Crystal, and April, beloved great grand children Serena, Kolten, Jayce, Brianna, Robert and Dawn.

Walter was born in Munich, Germany. He immigrated to Canada in his early 20s where he began his working career at the mines in Elliott Lake and went on to start his own carpentry business in Ottawa. He loved hockey and soccer, enjoyed brewing his own beer, loved putting together jigsaw puzzles and playing card games. Most of all, he enjoyed spending time with the children, as is evident in the hundreds of pictures of him playing with, and spending time with, all of the kids and grandkids.

The family will be hosting a Celebration of Life for Walter on Sunday, August 28th, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m, at the Tubman Funeral Home Westboro Chapel, 403 Richmond road, Ottawa, Ontario.
