V. Pryce Apedaile

Absent from the body and present with the Lord (2 Corinthians 5:8) from Parkinson’s Disease on Monday August 3, 2026.

Loved husband of Mari-Lyn (Lyn) (neé Graham); father of Heidi Byrd (David) of Vancouver and Tori Joustra (Geoffrey) of Osgoode. Dear Grandad of Sarah and Isaac Byrd (Ella). Loved and respected by step-grandchildren Julianna Arseneau (Micah) and Jeremiah Joustra. Brother-in-law to Hal (Margaret) Graham; Predeceased by his parents Victor and Evelyn Apedaile and sister Margo Apedaile.

Born in Barrington Passage, Nova Scotia, he always considered himself a Nova Scotian and in particular a Cape Breton Islander, even after moving to Ontario. Salt water ran in his veins.

Pryce enjoyed a fulfilling career at the Animal Research Institute in Ottawa. After an early retirement at 50 he travelled to Vienna many times to contract as a poultry genetics consultant. Later he was part of the Nuclear Inspection Team with the International Atomic Energy Agency in Iraq.

Pryce was a dedicated downhill skier, white water canoeist, sailor and scuba diver. In his early years he raced motorcycles and learned to fly a small aircraft. Every Fall he looked forward to hunting and fishing near Algonquin Park with his dear friends Ken and Bob.

Pryce had read the bible twice through from beginning to end and believed it to be Truth.

If Pryce could speak for himself, he would thank Dr. Priscilla Bright for her friendship and superb medical care. This journey would have been impossible without her and the care of our dedicated PSW’s and nurses. He would also want to say thank you to his life-long companion and former neighbour, Jim Johnston, for his unwavering and faithful care, help and generous friendship. It meant so much.

Friends may attend a visitation at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Dr., Kars on Thursday, August 13th from 12 pm until time of service in the chapel at 2 pm, followed by a reception.
