Trevor Hutchinson

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Trevor Hutchinson on August 25, 2026 at the age of 75, in Ottawa, ON.

Trevor was the beloved husband of Susan Greenslade for 33 years. He was a loving stepfather to Stacey Kirkpatrick (Kevin), and a cherished grandfather to Ashley Greenslade-McKay (Gianni), Daniel Greenslade-McKay, Lauren Kirkpatrick (Jack) and Joseph Kirkpatrick.

Born in Ottawa on December 14, 1950, Trevor was the son of Jack Hutchinson and Jennie (nee Williams). He is survived by cousins Bev Moore, Lynda Moore, Marilyn Wubs, Marsha Dufresne, Bonnie Beer, Sharon Navin, Bob Williams, Bill Williams, Heather Robillard, Dawn Williams, Lynda MacDonell, Donna MacDonell, Rusty Williams, and was predeceased by cousin Judy Cannon. He will be deeply missed by many other extended family members and close friends, including Dan Gamble and Colin Vickers.

Trevor spent 31 years working for the Canadian Hydrographic Service. He also worked for the Department of National Defence and his beloved Fat Alberts. He held a degree in History from Carleton University and loved to share his extensive knowledge.

Outside of work, Trevor enjoyed playing hockey as a goalie until age 75. He loved watching sports and camping. He was especially passionate about rescuing animals of all kinds, including cats, rats, turtles, guinea pigs, birds, rabbits and squirrels. Those who knew him will remember his love of music and the regular music trivia he would share.

Above all, Trevor will be remembered for his mischievous sense of humour and his smart-ass remarks, ready for almost any occasion. They broke the mold when they made Trevor. He will be deeply missed by his family (human and fur), friends, and all those whose lives he touched.

The family would like to thank The Ottawa General Hospital for the excellent care and compassion shown to Trevor.

Visitation will be held at Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa, on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. A Funeral service will be celebrated at the funeral home on Thursday, September 3, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., followed by a reception. In honor of Trev's love of hockey, guests are encouraged to wear a hockey sweater.
