It is with shattered hearts that we announce the sudden passing of Anthony (Tony) Baldock on Wednesday September 17th, 2025, in Ottawa at the age of 76.
Tony will be forever missed by his loving wife of 33 years, Barb Baldock. Father to cherished daughter Sarah, living in England. Son-in-law to Ray and Mary Hill of Dartmouth, Nova Scotia, fun loving brother-in-law to Joe Hill (Gwen) of Chester, Nova Scotia, and Michael Hill of Dartmouth Nova Scotia. He’s a dear brother to Stuart (Pat) of Sutton, Sandra White (Eldon) of Kingston, Greg (Connie) of Kingston, Karen Trousdale (John) of Harrowsmith, and Teresa Langly (John) of Florida. Tony was a fun & loving uncle and great uncle to numerous nieces and nephews as well. He is predeceased by his parents George & Muriel Baldock of Kingston, Ontario.
Born in Manchester, England Tony and his parents came to Canada when he was two. They settled north of Toronto, in the lake Simcoe area, later moving the family to Kingston. Tony attended St. Lawrence College in Kingston, and in 1971 began his first career in accounting. He went on to complete his CGA and worked in various organizations in Toronto in Controllership and CFO positions.
In 1989, Tony began his second career in Business Development, Sales Leadership and General Management positions with Unisys in Halifax, managing the Atlantic provinces. Back in Ottawa with DMR/Fujitsu, he returned to Unisys and then onto CSC. In 2011, Tony tried retirement for the first time, but after a short stint he decided to take consulting contracts with the government and then went back to his roots and worked with Rainbow Foods as Controller until 2017. He tried retirement once again in 2018 but again went on to take other contracts with the Federal Government at SSC until he finally did retire in 2020.
Tony absolutely loved golfing with his buddies and Barb – he was a member of Rivermead and Clublink (Eagle Creek) courses for 20+ years. In addition to his regular golfing days, Tony did an annual golf trip for over 20 years with long time best friends, Bob, Tom and Fred; the location and some faces changed over the years, but it was not an event he would ever miss.
Tony and Barb loved to travel and enjoyed cottaging, boating, RVing and time with friends. In 2004 they took one year hiatus from working and hit the road in a motor home with their dogs, allowing them to enjoy golfing, and visiting 22 US states while trying the nomad lifestyle before returning home and back to work. They have since happily settled into a stationary RV lifestyle on a small Lake near Ottawa for the last 8 summers.
Tony’s wishes were to be cremated. Visitation with his wife and family will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road on Thursday, September 25, 2025, from 1:00pm to 4:00pm. A celebration of his life is being organized by the family for a later date in October.
In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute Foundation in memory of Tony; an institute that always provided excellent care.
