Thérèse Irene McKellar

November 6, 1951 — June 16, 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Thérèse (Teri) on Monday, June 16, 2025 in her 74th year. She was at home surrounded by her family.

Beloved wife of Archie McKellar. Dear mother of François (Catherine), James (Aine); step-mother of Tammy (Mike May). Loving ‘Grandmaman’ to Riley (Annabella) and Connor, Amy and Martin, Nathan and Sarah. Daughter of the late Léo Binette and Valéda Lafontaine. She will be lovingly remembered by many nieces and nephews, and her dog Charlie.

Born in Ottawa, Thérèse was proudly raised in a francophone community. As a youth, she studied at the Rideau Convent. Thérèse was elected one of the first female Certified Management Accountants in Ontario in 1985. Her studies continued throughout the years and she obtained an MBA from Queens University in 1994.

Throughout her life Thérèse taught for the Society of Management Accountants of Ontario and worked with the Federal Government. She also owned and managed a successful contracting firm - AM-TECH.

Despite her busy schedule, Thérèse donated her time to various organizations including, The Royal Ottawa Hospital, Ontario Cancer Society, Élisabeth Bruyère Hospital, and The Ottawa Children’s Treatment Centre-OCTC. She was recently the Treasurer of the Carleton Golf and Yacht Club.

Thérèse was very athletic. She enjoyed volleyball, golf, tennis, swimming, curling and skiing.

Friends may attend a visitation at the Kars Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 1610 Roger Stevens Dr., Kars on Thursday, June 19th from 5 to 8 pm.

Funeral service will be held at St. John’s Anglican Church, 6699 Rideau Valley Dr. S., Kars on Friday, June 20th at 11 am. Interment to follow at Elmview Cemetery. Father Allan Budzin presiding.

The family would like to extend our deepest appreciation for the care provided by QCH, Dr. Burns and the Rideau Palliative Care team, and the many members of the Ontario Health at Home. We would also like to thank Rural Ottawa South Support Services (ROSSS), with special appreciation for Victoria.
