Ted (Edward) Aylwin Owen

It is with Heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Ted (Edward) Aylwin Owen, peacefully on Aug 23, 2026, age 88. 

Born in Prince Albert SK, Raised in West Vancouver BC. 

Lived in Ottawa ON, Calgary AB and Seabright NS. 

Predeceased by his parents James Hector Owen, Katherine Edith (Morgan) Owen and his brother Evan James Owen. Married to Jennifer (Rowan) Moulton, and later in life to Katharine (Boyne) Owen. 

He was a loving father to John Stewart Owen (Tracie Yule Owen), Katherine Justine Owen and James Murray Owen. 

Cherished Grandfather to Charlotte and Marin Leith, Olivia and Juliet Owen and Jack and Matthew Owen. 

Ted was a member of Alpha Delta Phi fraternity at UBC. He complimented his educational degree in commerce as a pilot with the Canadian Air Force, squadron 442. He had fulfilling careers as a stockbroker, and federal civil servant in numerous roles including pilot, and project manager in the Departments of Transportation, Industry Trade and Commerce, and Regional Industrial Expansion. 

He was responsible and instrumental in bringing Bell Helicopter into the Canadian manufacturing front. 

Ted was the founder of the West Vancouver Car Club in the mid 1950’s and continued to brainstorm & imagine new ideas, expressing his true entrepreneurial spirit that he shared with his children and many others. 

Camping, curling, hiking and walking were among his favourite pastimes. His most recent hobby was the choir at the Perley Health Centre. 

Ted loved socializing at his favourite pubs: Fitz’s Pub, The Swan Rideau, and Boston Pizza where he took on an endearing “Norm!” role where he shared memories and stories with many great friends. 

The family of Ted Owen would like to extend their deepest gratitude to the wonderful staff and volunteers of the Perley Health Centre, where he was lovingly cared for in the Veteran’s wing for the past 5 years.
