Sunil Kumar Kalra

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sunil Kumar Kalra. He passed peacefully on June 5th 2025, at the age of 66.

Born on August 26, 1958, Sunil was the youngest son of the late Daulat Ram Kalra and Asha Rani Kalra (née Mendiratta). Sunil leaves behind his wife and soulmate Céline (née Desfossés), and his sons Shawn (Anne) and Jason (Katie). He was a proud grandfather to two beautiful granddaughters he called, “my princess” Kaylee and “my little star” Vivian. He was looking forward to meeting his future grandson that he had already nicknamed “my little monster”. He also leaves behind his brothers, Mahesh (Alka), Umesh, late Vijay (Indu) and his sister Anita (Narinder). He will be fondly remembered by his many nieces, nephews, extended family and many friends.

Sunil enjoyed hosting, cooking and helping family and friends. He was an avid sports fan, especially hockey, and had a newfound love for traveling. Some of Sunil’s happiest moments were having great meals with family and friends - he hosted many memorable BBQ meals as well as homecooked Indian meals. We will miss his big smile, and especially his kind and generous heart.

Sunil spent his final days at Ruddy Shenkman Hospice and we will be forever grateful for the incredible care and kindness they provided to Sunil and his loved ones.

A service will be held at Tubman Funeral Homes, Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road on Saturday, June 14th 2025, at 3:00pm, followed by a get-together in the lower level reception room. For those wishing to attend virtually, please register for the livestream below.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Maison Ruddy-Shenkman Hospice Ottawa in memory of Sunil.
