Passed away peacefully on Friday, September 29, 2017, at the age of 84, after a lengthy illness.
Cherished daughter of Maria (Fil) Sowerda and Stanislav Kupinski. Spirited mother of Karl (Dolores), Peter (Angela), David (Sandra), and Ann (Peter). Grandmother of Marian and Kiran. Friend to many who needed a helping hand.
At the age of six, Sonia independently got herself on a train to reunite with her mother, who had been sent from Poland to Germany to be an indentured servant. The strength, determination and fiery spirit she carried through life will be forever remembered by those closest to her.
For those who wish to honour her life, donations to either the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees Canada or Family Services Canada would be greatly appreciated.
