Shirley Joyce McInnis (née Sabean) passed away peacefully with family by her side at Bridlewood Trails Retirement Home, Kanata, on December 13, 2025, at the age of 92 years. Predeceased by her husband Robert McInnis, parents Walter and Blanche Sabean, sister Adeline Burns, and brother Donald Sabean. Lovingly remembered by her children Pamela (Ron), Walter (May), Elaine (Dave), and Lorraine (Rob); 10 grandchildren, 2 great-granddaughters, and sisters Brenda and Marilyn.
Joyce was always active in her community, especially St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, where she was a member of the Altar Guild and Anglican Church Women of Canada. She loved music and was a longstanding member of the Capital Chordettes Barbershop Chorus. Joyce had an active social life and was always ready to host a get-together.
Special thanks to Father George Kwari, whose spiritual care provided so much comfort over the years. Also, the care team at Bridlewood Trails Retirement Community, where Joyce lived for the past six years, and especially June Fillier, Palliative Care Nurse.
A Funeral Service of Remembrance and Reception will be held at St. Stephen’s Anglican Church, 930 Watson Street, Ottawa, on Thursday, January 8, 2026, at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Pastoral Care Outreach - St. Stephen's Anglican Church, The Ottawa Mission, or to a charity of your choice.
