Sherry Hill was born in Parry Sound, grew up in Ottawa, and spent the majority of her adult life working in a nursery school. She prided herself on her work and even after retirement found ways to be the chief director of her surroundings and activities.

Sherry's favourite place on this earth was Huckleberry Island in Georgian Bay. Summertime at the cottage was a feature of so many happy years: visiting with family and friends, sitting out on the deck, boat rides and lots and lots of cheese. Whether it was Imperial cheese, cheddar from Maple Dale, or Cheese Whiz, Sherry would eat it with relish. Or fresh tomatoes if available.

Family gatherings were filled with Sherry's warmth, humour, and remarkably sharp memory. She never forgot a birthday, keeping faithful track of everyone's milestones and ages right up until her final days. Christmases in London held a particularly fond place in her heart. She delighted in admiring the Santas, the glowing lights, the tree, the singing and dancing holiday toys, and the special Christmas bean dip her sister Anne made for her every year.

For the past 26 years, Sherry lived as an active, beloved member of the community at Christian Horizons (now Karis Disability services). A very special thank you to all the staff at both Clearview and Bank street who lovingly and patiently worked with Sherry all of these years to give her a full and happy life right up to the end. Their dedication to care, and their commitment to Sherry was unmatched.

Sherry was predeceased by her father John (Jack) Hill, her mother Margaret Gertrude (née Douglas) Hill and her sister, Margaret Anne Hill. Sherry is lovingly remembered by her nephew David Luke (Danielle) Oates, her grand nephew Jack, her brother in law Julian Oates and her cousins, extended family and friends.

Donations in Sherry's memory may be made to Karis Disability Services (26 Peppler St., Waterloo, Ontario, N2J3C4)
