With heavy hearts, we share that Shawn Antoine passed away peacefully at home, on August 11th, 2025 at the age of 61. Born on October 4th, 1963 in Perth, Shawn lived a life filled with love, laughter, hard work, and the great outdoors.
Shawn was a devoted husband, father, son, grandpa/papa, and friend whose heart was as big as the wilderness he loved to explore. A passionate hunter, Shawn found peace in the early morning stillness of the forest, the rustle of leaves underfoot, and the quiet connection with nature. For him, hunting was not just a pastime—it was a tradition, a craft, and a way of life. Those who hunted with him knew it wasn’t just about bringing something home—it was about the experience, the stories, and the shared time together.
Shawn was the kind of man who gave his all in everything he did. Whether he was out in the woods at dawn waiting for the perfect shot, or putting in a long day’s work, Shawn never did anything halfway. His work ethic was unmatched—he believed in doing things right the first time, and his hands told the story of a lifetime spent building, fixing, and creating.
But above all, Shawn will be remembered for his heart. He was a man you could count on, the first to show up when someone needed help, and the last to leave when there was work to be done. He could make you laugh until you cried, and his smile had a way of making a tough day better.
Shawn leaves behind the love of his life, Kara, and his beloved children, Shawn-Ryan, Amber, Joey, Robbie, and Brooklyn, who were his greatest pride and joy. He is also survived by his proud and caring mother, Elaine, his sister and lifelong friend, Lisa (Paul), his treasured nieces and nephew, Ashleigh, Devon, and Hillary, and his precious grandchildren who brought him endless joy, as well as countless friends and extended family who will forever cherish the memories made in his company. He now joins his father, Jack, and step-father, Barry, in eternal rest.
A celebration of Shawn’s life will be held on September 20th, 2025 at the Maberly Fairgrounds from 1pm-4pm , with stories, laughter, and maybe even a few hunting tales shared in his honour. On behalf of Shawn, a donation to an Indigenous Charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated.
Though he may be gone from our sight, Shawn’s spirit will live on in every crisp autumn morning, every golden sunset over the tree line, and every heart he touched.
