Herd, Ruth
Peacefully in hospital on Monday, October 26, 2026 in her 100th year. Beloved wife of late Ronald Herd. Dear mother of Dorothy Dimitroff (David), Bruce (Kate), Marg Todd (Rick) and Phillip. Loving grandmother of Jennifer Crane (Greg), Stephanie Dimitroff, Matthew Todd (Tara), Alli Bahm (Linden), Cheryl Anne Herd (Cam) and John Herd; and great grandmother of Ellasyn, Abrielle; Lyla, Sloane and Mayes; Findlay, Everly; Emily, Tyler, Abby and Mitchell.
Sister of Irene MacMackin. Predeceased by her brother Jack Hoyt, sister Doris Knight and granddaughter Natalie Ruth Todd. Great great grandmother of Oliver, Hudson; Paisley and William. Special “Grandma” of Alex “Sandy” (Mano) Deladova and Amy Munro.
Ruth was born in Hampton, New Brunswick in 1926. She was a teacher, a very proud registered nurse, a wife, a mother and her favorite role of all, a wonderful grandmother to the next 3 generations. She loved kids, nature, shell seeking, gardening, painting, quilting, bird watching and scrabble. She loved a good gin and tonic and Florida sunshine with her sisters. Her life was filled with adventure, nature and those she loved most. She lived to be a tough old doll despite the fact she was often known to say she really didn’t care for old people. She left a lasting impression on anyone she met and will be loved always and forever missed.
