Ruth Amey Campbell

February 25, 1934 — April 10, 2026

Ruth went peacefully to be with her Lord on Friday, April 10, 2026, in her 93rd year. She was pre-deceased by the love of her life, Len Campbell. She was loving mother to Janice (Ian) Dunn and Bob (Jennifer) Campbell. She was proud grandma to Jonathan (Andrea), Krista (Andrew), David (Sarah), Sarah (Ben), Jake (Vanessa), and Anna. She was great grandma Ruth to the “little ones,” Ryan, Owen, Georgia, Ainsley, Hailey, Raelyn, Jameson, and Calvin. Predeceased by siblings Gorden (Jean) Orser, Elwood (Mona) Orser, she is survived by her loving sister, Mary (Wayne) Abrams, and many nieces and nephews.

Ruth lived her life fully devoted to her family and her faith. She made her home a place known for hospitality, laughter, joy, and a safe place to come home to. Countless board meetings, Bible studies, visiting missionaries, church events, family gatherings, and celebrations were all graced by China teacups and everything good that went with them. Her passion for teaching fostered lifelong collegial friendships, expressing a love of children that extended from her teens (when she became a teacher) to a captivating reading the Christmas story to some of her great grandchildren when she was 89. She will be deeply missed.

After suffering the loss of her cherished husband in 2018, followed by the loss of her home to the tornado that hit Arlington Woods, also in 2018, Stirling Park retirement community began as a place of refuge but became her new home. There she was surrounded with loving friends and staff who gave her a wonderful quality of life through her last years. The family received dozens of pictures of the many events and friendship relationships she was involved in.

Ruth and Len were founding members of Arlington Woods Church. They gave, served, and loved there, finding deep faith and abiding hope in Jesus, building into many relationships and ministries over the years. From this cherished church family, many wonderful people gave her love and support in return through her last days. The family is deeply grateful for the pastors, staff, and so many key people who loved Ruth faithfully to the end.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church, The Ottawa Mission, or Wesley Acres Retreat Centre and Campground.

Friends may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Road (Between Bayshore and Baseline Road) on Wednesday, April 15, 2026, from 1–3 p.m. and 6–8 p.m. A Funeral Service for Ruth will take place at Arlington Woods Free Methodist Church, 225 McClellan Road, Ottawa, on Thursday, April 16th at 11 a.m. Reception will follow.
