(December 26, 1936 - April 26, 2026)

With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Ronald Kenneth Logan of Manotick, in his 90th year, after a brief illness, surrounded by members of his loving family.

Ron is survived by his wife of 60 years, Helen (Donoghue) and will be deeply missed by his four daughters: Mary (Greg), Carolyn (Jeff), Jane (Ted) and Susan (Jeff). “Nappy” was dearly loved by his ten grandchildren Shannon (Jake), Lauren, Avery, Daisy, Eleanor, Katie, Jessica (Neil), Andrew (Harper), Abby (Brodie) and Christine and two great grandsons Jack and Greyson, who were the absolute pride and joy of his life. He will also be fondly missed by many friends, neighbours and extended family.

Ron was the only son of Kenneth Albert Logan and Edith Hall (Dagg) both of Osgoode and younger brother to his sisters Peggy (Pierre, Kenneth) and Shirley (Stuart), all predeceased. From a young age, he showed a willingness to help others, spending time with his Uncle Doc Taylor, a large-animal veterinarian and assisting him on calls at local farms. That spirit of service stayed with him throughout his life.

Ron began his working career as an electrician with Harry Wright in North Gower before joining the Gloucester Police Service. But it was in teaching where he truly found his calling. For 35 years with the Carleton Board of Education, Ron was a passionate teacher at both South Carleton High School in Richmond and Sir Guy Carleton Secondary School in Nepean, where he served as Head of the Technical Department and taught Electricity and Driver’s Education. He was also the Head of both Driver’s Education and Night School for the Carleton Board of Education for many years. As an educator, he shaped not only skills, but character, leaving a lasting impression on countless students.

During the summers, Dad kept himself busy as a sitting Justice of the Peace presiding over Remand Court, Traffic Court and Municipal By-Laws. He was active in the community as a past Master of the Masonic Lodge (Kemptville), a member of the Ottawa Shriners Club, Manotick Volunteer Fire Fighters and Manotick Kiwanis. Dad enjoyed helping others with any electrical or small appliance repairs and was considered by many an “electrical genius”.

Dad was known for his love of politics and was never shy to share his strong opinions, the debates were often long and always loud. But above all, Dad cherished spending time with his grandchildren, he showed his love through teasing, jokes and creating joyful memories that will live on in their hearts.

The family extends their gratitude to the Ottawa Hospital – Civic Campus for their support over the last few days.

In Dad’s honour, please raise a glass of Coca-Cola (rye optional) —may it be crisp, cold, and a perfect tribute to the memory of a life well-lived.

Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Dad's life will be held on Sunday, May 31 from 2 to 5pm at the Manotick Legion, 5550 Ann Street, Manotick, where family and friends are welcome to gather and honour his memory. A private family graveside service will be held at Rideauvale Cemetery, Kars at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his memory to the Ottawa Humane Society or the Ottawa Hospital - Civic Campus.
