Bob Mills

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Robert ("Bob") Benjamin Mills, who died peacefully on August 10, 2023.

Bob leaves behind Theresa ("Terry"), their two sons, Ben (Tina) and Josh (Clare), and six beloved grandchildren: Owen, Luke, Audrey, Callum, Mark and Felicity. He is also survived by his sisters, Candy, Doris and Pat, and brother, Terry. He is predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Jean (nee Johnston), and brother, John.

Born in Niagara Falls, Ontario on May 9, 1947, and raised in Ottawa, Bob grew up on Cole Avenue, with his five siblings and many neighbourhood friends.  After attending Algonquin College, Bob had a career with Bell Canada, spanning over 30 years, first as a lineman, and then as a troubleshooter in the test center.  When not at work, Bob could often be found at the rink watching his boys, and their friends, play hockey, and helping out their teams.

Bob enjoyed the outdoors and spent many years camping with family and friends, eventually building his own cottage on Buck Lake where he spent many summers (and did many crosswords). Bob was fun-loving, with a dry sense of humor, and always game for a laugh. He could chat-up just about anyone and would often go for walks in his neighborhood - and eventually his retirement residence - doing just that.

Bob’s family is thankful for the compassionate care that he received from the staff at Stillwater Creek Residence and the Queensway-Carleton’s ACE Unit.

Friends and family are invited to attend the Westboro Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 403 Richmond Rd. at Roosevelt on Tuesday August 29, 2023, from 9 AM until time of service in the chapel at 11 AM. Interment at St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Cemetery (Fallowfield) to follow.
