Robert Bowen

Dr. Robert Riley Bowen

Born June 10,1935 in Peterborough Ontario to Edith { Holyman } and Riley Bowen. Predeceased by his parents, his wife and daughter-in-law Angela Rickman.

Robert graduated with Honours from Queens University B.Sc  (Physics)  in 1958; obtained the degree of Master of Science in 1960.  He later went to obtain his Doctorate in Engineering from Carleton University in 1970 Married to the love of his life Winnifred {Wilson} in 1959.  Father of Judy (Angela Sonia},   David { Brendan and Julian } and Diane { Cassandra and Shawna}.

Bob and Winnie settled to the new subdivision of Crystal Beach in 1962 to raise their family.

Bob frequently travelled the world representing Canada with Industry Canada

(Communications) to, as he would describe it “Park satellites for Canada”.   Bob was a very active man enjoying the outdoors with such activities as skiing downhill and later cross county. He enjoyed sailing and in his quiet times paddling in his canoe.  Both Bob and Winnie were active bowlers through the years enjoying both ten pin and later lawn bowling to fill in the summer season.  In his retirement Bob and Winnie continued their travels, visiting France, Ireland and Peru and multiple trips to explore his homeland of Canada from coast to coast. He was a deeply spiritual man, and applied his scientific background in attempting to reconcile his questions about stories in the gospel.

Family greatly thank and appreciate the care given to Bob while he resided at Granite Ridge.

The care and support in his final difficult years making his life as rich as possible.

Visitation will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home, 3440 Richmond Rd., Nepean, (between Bayshore & Baseline) on Friday, August 19th from 12 -1 pm followed by a memorial service in the chapel at 1 pm.
