Rita Durocher

It is with love and sadness, that the family of Rita Durocher announce her peaceful passing on July 5^th, 2023 at the magnificent age of 102. Rita was the child of the late Bertha Elford and Michael Trudel. She is predeceased by her husband Oscar Durocher and her children Wayne, Perry, and Timothy, and her sister Winnifred Sinclair (William). She leaves behind a loving son Roland. She was a feisty and spirited mother-in-law to Debbie, Gaye and the late Leslie Durocher. She was a loving and devoted Bubba to her grandchildren: Tammy, Wayne, Cory, Norlynda (Peter), and David (Katie). She was a great-grandmother to Timmy, Dylan, Jakob, Tyler, Hannah, Ruby, Molly and Darren.  

Rita will be lovingly remembered for her generous heart, her creativity, and her musical talents. She was a joyful singer of gospel songs and often sang while playing piano for fellow Medex residents. In her younger years, she would be found singing in the choir or working in its nursery. She was a faithful member of former St. Peter’s Anglican church on Merivale Road.  

As a child of God, she has been called home and is most certainly rejoicing with those she’s lost along the way.

Friends and family are welcome to pay their respects at Tubman Funeral Homes at  403 Richmond Rd, in Westboro. There will be a visitation on Wednesday, July 12^th, from 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held in the chapel at Tubman Funeral Homes on Thursday, July 13^th, at 11:00 am, internment to follow at Pinecrest cemetery.
