Rita Armitage

After a mercifully short battle with cancer, Rita passed away Sunday at the Queensway Carleton Hospital. Rita was the beloved wife of John, beloved mother of Kate (spouse Jonathan) and Mark, and beloved ‘Nannie' to Owen. An educational consultant who helped many children achieve their full potential, a graduate teacher at Mount St. Vincent University who helped students understand ‘critical literacy', she will be sorely missed. The family wishes to thank their neighbours for the generous support they gave Rita – especially in her last few weeks, their friends from the U.K. who visited especially, and the caring staff at the QCH. Those who knew Rita may visit at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 3440 Richmond Rd, (between Baseline Rd. and Bayshore Dr.) on Saturday, September 14th, 2013 from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at 3 – 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Queensway Carleton Hospital
