Peter John Nutt passed away peacefully on April 24th, 2026, listening to shared memories and stories from his loved ones surrounding him, along with his favorite music, The Beatles’ Greatest Hits.
Proud parents John and Olive Nutt brought Peter into this world in 1944 in York, England. Peter was the younger brother to his sister, Pat Hubbard. He is survived by his cherished brother-in-law, John Hubbard. When of an appropriate age, Peter successfully studied Aerospace Engineering at Edinboro University and went on to train at the Halton Royal Air Force Training Base. Upon completion of his training, Peter began working for the Royal Air Force (RAF). He was awarded the Sword of Honour as a cadet and, by the time of his retirement, was celebrated as an Air Commodore in charge of the Engineering Unit.
During Peter’s time with the RAF, he was on exchange to the British Embassy, where he met the love of his life, Catharine Earl. They met in the elevator of their shared apartment building and were married in 1973 in Chrysler, ON. Peter’s family grew that day, as he gained a mother- and father-in-law, Nancy and Michael Earl; loving sisters-in-law, Wendy and Nancy Ann; and a brother-in-law, Hotch, who never hesitated to greet Peter with a manly and bone-crushing handshake.
After their marriage, Peter and Catharine, Pip and Poppet to one another, journeyed back to England, where they started their family. In 1980, their son James was born, followed by their daughter Aileen in 1982.
In 1989, the Nutt family moved to Canada, where they settled into their Kinburn home. They built a life in Canada, forming strong friendships, enjoying summer days at the cottage, and designing and constructing many building projects. At the Gull Lake cottage, neighbors within earshot were not shy to the sound of a hammer tirelessly pounding away, only silenced when Peter decided a nap in the sun was overdue, or a nice boat ride was needed.
Peter and Catharine’s family continued to grow over the years, with James marrying Yvonne in 2006 and being blessed with two children, Alexis and London. Aileen married Jason in 2014 and also welcomed two wonderful children, Colston and Avalea. Peter really loved watching his family grow and hearing about their latest adventures.
In Canada, Peter enjoyed a long and successful career with Computer Sciences Canada and retired as President of the company. In his downtime, he loved working on different construction projects, spending time with his family and dogs, watching Coronation Street, and reading Cottage Life magazines.
Peter was a loyal and devoted husband for 52 years, a loving father to his children, and a very proud grandad. He was a warm, kind, understanding, and proper gentleman who always
appreciated a “good deal” when there was one to be had. Our dad, husband, grandad, father-in-law, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend will be deeply missed. We consider ourselves so fortunate to have been loved by this remarkable man.
Peter’s cremation has taken place. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Asthma Canada. A Celebration of Life for Peter will take place on May 13th from 2–5 p.m. at the Cheshire Cat Pub, 2193 Richardson Side Road. Cheers to a wonderful life, P Nutt.
