Trish passed peacefully in Nepean with her family at her side on Tuesday, September 30, 2025. Beloved wife of Richard. Dear mother to Megan and Caitlin, and loving grandmother (Amo) to Mackenzie and Ella. Predeceased by her parents, Patrick Ian Ogilvie and Gena Hilda (Olsen). Survived by her brother, Richard Ogilvie (Ernestine Tahedl) and sister-in-law Beverley Davies (Haydn).
Trish was born in Copper Cliff, and much of her formative years were spent exploring the Canadian landscape, in Sudbury, on the French River, and across Canada. Her love of the outdoors led to many years of travel and camping across North America, with Rick, with friends, and later with their daughters in tow as well.
She made many lifelong friends during her time at McMaster University, where she also met the love of her life and husband of 55 years, Rick. After moving to Ottawa, her teaching career spanned 31 years, as both teacher and Department Head at Rideau, Woodroffe, and Ridgemont High Schools.
Trish was a social butterfly, enjoying time spent hosting and visiting friends, dinner clubs and book clubs, a competitive game of cards or Scrabble, and holiday gatherings with family. She was the first person to call in any crisis, always able to help with her wealth of connections from the vast circle of friendships that blossomed over her career.
She had a passion for reading, baking, cooking, animals of all kinds, and spending time anywhere there were “rocks, trees, and water”. Most of all, she was as stubborn and resilient as the Canadian Shield landscape she so loved, a strength and determination that she passed on to her two daughters. She fought her illness with grace and unwavering courage until the very end.
Friends and family may pay their respects at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes (3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa) on Monday, October 6th from 2-4pm, and 6-8pm. At Trish’s request, there will be no funeral service. In lieu of flowers, donations to The Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County are appreciated.
