Patricia Bishop Rowland

May 10, 1932 — Aug 19, 2026

Patricia Bishop Rowland, in her 95th year, of Russell, Ontario, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2026, surrounded by her loving family.

Born on May 10, 1932, Patricia was the youngest daughter of the late Ferne and Sidney Bishop. She graduated from Stanstead College in 1949 and went on to attend Macdonald College, where she received her Teacher’s Diploma. In 1975, she graduated from Concordia University with a Bachelor of Arts degree. As a single mother, Patricia raised three children while working and completing her university degree at night—a remarkable accomplishment that reflected her determination and strength.

Patricia was a much-loved Grade 1 teacher at Centennial Park School in Châteauguay, Quebec. During her teaching career, she taught hundreds of young students how to read and inspired many along the way.

An exceptionally creative person, Patricia enjoyed knitting, sewing, quilting and interior design. She loved sports, especially the Montreal Expos and Montreal Canadiens. Independent and strong-willed, she was never afraid to try something new and was always happy to share her opinions on current events.

Patricia will be remembered by all who knew her as a generous, kind and caring woman who always saw the good in people. She had a special way of making each family member feel loved and valued.

She is survived by her three children, Debbie Merritt (Warren), Jane Davies (Dan), and Stephen Rowland (Mhairi); six grandchildren; and eleven great-grandchildren, all of whom adored her. Her love for her family was unwavering, and each of them held a special place in her heart.

A private family funeral will be held for Patricia at Lakeside Cemetery in Bishopton, Quebec.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Montfort Hospital in Ottawa.
