We are very sad to announce that Nick passed away on Monday, August 8 in Hamilton, Ontario. He is survived by his loving parents Mary and Trevor Davies, his sister Sarah, family, relatives in UK, USA, New Zealand and Australia and many friends in Hamilton, Toronto and the Ottawa area.
Nick grew up in the Dunrobin area, attended Montessori pre-school on Riddell Drive, St. Isidore Elementary and All Saints HS in Kanata. From the age of 10 until 18, he played water polo in the Ottawa Titans Water Polo club, moving from recreational to competitive, participated in Nationals and a number of Ontario Provincial championships. Nick played recreational and competitive soccer in Dunrobin and West Carleton Soccer club. While at high school, Nick gained lifeguard certification and had summer break lifeguarding with the City of Ottawa at several Kanata pools, and was also a qualified soccer referee.
On graduating from high school, Nick chose to study Engineering at McMaster University in Hamilton, his choice was influenced by McMaster having a varsity water polo team with an excellent pool. He was a member of the McMaster varsity water polo team in all five years of his eligibility and became a co-captain of the team. In some summer breaks, Nick was a camp counsellor in Hamilton with the Sports Fitness School sports camp in Hamilton which he enjoyed immensely and was much enjoyed by the participating kids. At McMaster, Nick also had part-time employment as a lifeguard and maintenance manager of the pool.
Nick made many lasting friendships at high school, in Hamilton and at McMaster.
He enjoyed trying other sports, golf, skiing and snowboarding. Throughout his life from an early age Nick was an avid reader. He inherited a love of travel, with trips to England and Europe and winter trips to Naples, Florida with family.
In the first part of his final year at McMaster, Nick spent a few months working at the Banff Springs Hotel in Alberta. After graduating in Chemical Engineering, Nick was employed by Weston Foods in Mississauga and continued to live in Hamilton.
Following the cremation, the memorial service in celebration of Nick’s life will be held at the Carp Chapel of Tubman Funeral Homes, 115 Rivington St, Carp, Ontario on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 2p.m., followed by a reception.
