MILES, Nan

September 9, 1939 - July 28, 2022

Born Annie Cockburn McDermid Knox in Greenock, Scotland, the youngest of James and Annie Knox’ seven children. Nan emigrated to Canada in 1963, settled in Toronto where she met her husband Graydon Miles, and then moved to Peterborough in 1971 to continue her life’s work in childcare, first at their beloved Highwood, then as a director at Stewart Homes. Nan will be missed by her son Graydon, daughter-in-law Sarah, granddaughter Alli, and niece and nephew Anne and Billy Elliott, as well as by extended family and countless friends. Nan’s family would like to thank the incredible team at Carleton Lodge for their support and care over the past seven years. A short memorial gathering will be held at the Garden Chapel of Tubman Funeral Home (3440 Richmond Rd, Ottawa) on Monday, August 22nd from 6pm to 8pm with an informal chance to share stories and memories at 6:30pm.  For those unable to attend in person, there will be a live stream option available at 6:30 p.m. at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com Donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
