Mohammed Nazerul Hassan Mohamdee

With great sadness, the family of Mohammed Nazerul Hassan Mohamdee announce his passing on July 10, 2025 at 90 years of age.

Lovingly remembered by his wife of thirty-two years, Elise and their two children, Heather (Jordan) and Andrew (Kathryn) also by his children, Sharon (Marc), John and Brian (Ruth), six grandchildren, Mara, Dallin, Jason, Aislin, Ziv and Fia, brother, Omar (Anne) and sister-in-law, Tara (late Zaman). Cherished by many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by his parents, Omar and Berahmat and sisters, Rabia (Amin “Rajah”) and Tofa.

Hassan was born and raised in Buxton, Guyana. He attended Trinity College at the University of Dublin in Ireland and obtained a Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery and Bachelor of Obstetrics. He worked in Private General Practice mainly in rural Guyana before immigrating to Canada. He obtained his certification as a Specialist in Family Medicine from the University of Ottawa. In addition to his Family Practice, he was also a Director and Senior Medical Advisor in the Federal Government. He was a devoted physician for over 40 years.

Hassan gave so quietly, taught so gently and cared so deeply. He always took care of the ones he loved. He showed us that family came before everything else and that having each other to lean on mattered above all. He had many hobbies including gardening, listening to Indian music and cooking curries. He was an avid traveler and became a snowbird in his later years to escape the winter cold in Canada. He was also a proud and active Mason and Shriner.

Those who so desire may make a donation in his memory to the Dementia Society of Ottawa and Renfrew County or the Alzheimer Society of Canada.

Visitation will be held on Friday, July 18, 2025 at 13:00 followed by the Janazah at 14:00 and then a Masonic Memorial Service for RW Bro Hassan Mohamdee at 14:30 at Tubman Funeral Home Garden Chapel, 3440 Richmond Road, Ottawa. Graveside service to follow at Pinecrest Cemetery, 2500 Baseline Road, Nepean.
