It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Michael, at the age of 72, on September 29, 2026.
Predeceased by his wife, Sandy; mother Betty; father Emmett; and sister, Mary. Michael will be lovingly remembered by his children, Blake and Tamara (Michael); his brothers, Keith and Patrick; and granddaughters Maeve and Florence.
Michael raised Tamara and Blake as a devoted single father after the unexpected loss of Sandy.
Growing up in Little Italy, he developed a lifelong love of hockey and spent much of his teenage years at the ODR. Preston Street was his community, especially meeting friends at the Prescott.
Michael’s strong work ethic started young, delivering newspapers before joining Bell Canada. He also knew when to take a break—and could be found watching The Price Is Right in the break-room “dugout”.
Michael and Sandy spent their summers at Pine Lodge, QC, first as a couple and later with their children. The days were filled with golfing, time at the beach, Saturday night dances, and countless hours socializing with friends.
Michael especially loved joking around with his granddaughters, bringing plenty of laughter and eyerolls lovingly back his way. His sense of humour remained with him until his final moments.
Michael will be laid to rest alongside Sandy, following a private service.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute.
