Michael George Evenson of Kanata, Ontario passed away peacefully in his 88th year after a brief hospital stay.
Michael was born in Montreal to Theodore and Philomena (née Frodsham). He was the second of eight children; Theodore (Elaine), Walter (Chichi), Kathleen (Bob), Bernice, Alan (Patt), Daniel (Gloria) and Eric (Suzanne) and he often shared fond memories of growing up in the east end of Montreal.
Mike and his beloved wife and best friend, Zenithe (née Nisbet) would have celebrated their 65th Wedding Anniversary on July 16th of this year! Cherished dad to the late Michael (Maria), Roxanne (Anthony), Derek, and James (Stephanie). Proud grandfather of Michael (Corbin), Emily, Rachel (Stephan), Neil (Erin), Gabriel (predeceased), Trenton and William. He would have been overjoyed to meet his first great-grandchild expected in October.
Mike loved his large extended family, sports, music and singing, dogs and the outdoors. The family enjoyed many camping trips over the years, but his favourite spot was Algonquin Park. Mike’s career was in telecommunications, then upon his retirement, he loved driving a school bus for students with disabilities.
A private family graveside service will be held at Highland Park Cemetery, Carp.
In memory of Michael and his love for children with medical needs, including his own late grandson, Gabe, donations may be made to The Children’s Hospital of Eastern Ontario (CHEO).
