Maureen Elaine Ott

Maureen passed away peacefully, in her sleep, at The Ottawa Hospital. Cherished and dearly loved forever by her husband (Les) of 52 years and her daughter (Lindsay). Maureen will be greatly missed by them, her grandchildren Olivia and Jacob, and by all of her extended family and friends.

Predeceased by her daughter Vanessa, her wonderful parents (Grace and Allan) and her loving sister (Loa).

Maureen was continually grateful for the compassionate care provided by the doctors, nurses and staff of The Ottawa Hospital over many years. With this care, and being strong of spirit, Maureen was able to have the quality of life that enabled her to enjoy life to the fullest – spending time with family and friends, enjoying her gardens, reading and travelling.

Maureen kept both a gratitude journal and a happiness journal at various times in her life. In these journals the common themes were: the importance of friends and family; working on a team cooperatively towards a common goal; and helping make a difference in the lives of others by volunteering with many charities. The same themes resonated in Maureen’s inputs to the family New Year time capsules.

There will be a private Celebration of Life at a later date. No doubt there will be many stories from the Oak Bay Girls Group and University of Victoria friends, from family members remembering visits to the family farm in Alberta, from those who took camping or cottage trips with her, and from those who assisted in searching for the biggest and best Christmas tree late at night in the woods. There may even be a few wine stories from the book club members.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to
The Ottawa Hospital or to Doctors Without Borders.
