Mary Frances Taylor

October 7, 1940 — February 9, 2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary Frances at The Ottawa General Hospital surrounded by family on February 9, 2024.

She was the beloved wife of the late James Taylor (Jimmy) and predeceased by her parents Edward and Jolene (née Russell) Norcott. She was the loving mother of Christopher (Felicity), Douglas (Katie), and Alaine. She was a doting grandmother to Alfie, Riley, Daniel, Louis, James and Molly. She is survived and will be dearly missed by her brother Nicholas (Bonnie), her sister Carolyn, many nieces and nephews as well as her closest friends Joanne and David Lee. She was a remarkable woman who touched the hearts of many with her generous nature and good humour.

Monie was born in London England in 1940 at the height of the blitz during World War II.   After coming to Canada as an infant she went on to graduate high school from Notre Dame Convent and get her Degree from the University of Ottawa in 1961.

She then joined the Federal Government where she enjoyed a very successful career as a civil servant working for the Treasury Board in the Pensions program.   It was here that she met many co-workers who quickly became life-long friends.

One of the highlights of her career was the year she spent in London England working on Pension Reform.  Not only did it further her career but it also gave her the opportunity to travel throughout the UK and Europe.

Once retired she traveled extensively and went back to school to get a degree in Classics from Carleton University.

Monie was an avid supporter of the arts and a tireless volunteer for many worthy causes.

She was a lover of all things Opera, adored her grandchildren and always opened her heart and home to others. She was also an avid reader who looked forward to her regular book club meetings where plenty of wine was served.
