It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Marjorie Ann Pettigrew on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at the age of 88.
Loving wife of the late Harold (Luke) Pettigrew. Devoted mother of Kim Rochon (deceased), Karen (George Acton), Pamela (Larry Baker) and Megan (Glenn Austin).
Cherished grandmother of Victoria (Duncan Robblee) and Matthew Acton, Jessica and Ryan Baker and Cambell and Carter Austin.
Beloved sister of Gordon Wilson (June Woodburn) and predeceased by George and Harvey Wilson. Adored daughter of the late Jessie Jane Smith, and the late Leslie Menzies Wilson.
Marjorie’s memory will always be cherished by her nieces, extended family, and friends.
Marjorie was born in 1938 and was very proud of having grown up in Beachburg Ontario and continued her connection there for many years with a cottage on the Ottawa River near Lapasse. Once married, she stayed home to raise her children and became involved in Conservative politics where she volunteered many hours over may years ending up as president of the Ottawa West Riding Association. She went to work at Statistics Canada in the census to raise money to go to political conventions and ended up staying for nineteen years, working in Business statistics in Telecommunications. After she retired, she took up duplicate bridge and greatly enjoyed the challenges that it provided.
She was a good organizer and started a Breakfast Club which met monthly and brought her wonderful friendships. Many friendships were made when she was the treasurer of Ottawa Lifelong Learning for Senior Adults. Being a foodie, she formed a group, The Preston Street Ramblers who dined and reviewed the many restaurants on Preston Street. She was an inveterate news junkie, always having the news channel on; she still had the Citizen and Globe and mail delivered daily and read it cover to cover.
