Margaret Carter-Rheaume

May 12, 1954 — July 10, 2023

Loving wife, adoring mother and caring friend, Margaret Carter-Rheaume died with family by her side on July 10th, 2023.  Margaret leaves behind her beloved husband, Greg, to whom she would have been married 43 years on December 19th, and proud daughter, Laura.

Daughter of the late Auldon and Josephine Carter, she is survived by her step-mother Freda, brother Tom (Evelyne), sister Mary (Bill), and brother Rob (Beverly).  She was a cherished sister-in-law and aunt to her nieces and nephews. Her close friends and their families were very special to Margaret.

Margaret was born on May 12th, 1954 in Truro, Nova Scotia. After graduating from Acadia University, she moved to Ottawa and married Greg in 1980.  Laura will never forget her mother’s courage, generosity, style and unwavering love.

Margaret was a kind, sensitive woman willing to lend an ear to anyone. Her heart always walked with her friends and she cared deeply about those in need. She often found purpose in writing notes of encouragement and comfort. Margaret will be remembered for her careful thinking about those around her and learning to live graciously with pain. She will never leave our hearts and minds.

Friends and family may choose to pay their respects by passing along an act of kindness to a person in need as there will be no funeral service or celebration of life. For those who wish, donations to the Ottawa Hospital Foundation to support the important work of the MAiD team would be appreciated.
