ERDMAN, Lorna Eileen (nee Dixon)

1927 – 2023

It is with heartfelt sadness the family announces the peaceful passing of Lorna Eileen Erdman, on February 18th at the Glebe Centre in Ottawa. Lorna was 95.

Lorna is predeceased by her husband Ilmar Ernst Erdman (2009), and survived by her four sons John (Karen), Eric (Rosy), Neil, and Mark (Kristine), by her grandchildren Adam (Jen), Leslie (Mike), Simon, Jacob and Luke, and by her two great grandchildren, Owen and Emmett, whom she cherished. She is fondly remembered by her brother Bob Dixon (Mary), and her many nieces and nephews. She is predeceased by her brother Alan (Margaret Ellen). Lorna was the daughter of James Ford Dixon (Eileen).

A lifelong resident of Ottawa, Lorna was a devoted mother, with an ability to befriend everyone she met. Slow to anger, quick to laugh, she had a wry wit and great sense of humour. Lorna loved art, swimming and travel. As a young woman she studied with artist AY Jackson, and was a proud “Gold Star” Holland America cruiser.

Lorna was a woman of faith. She celebrated her Irish heritage and deep ties to the Ottawa area. She held various administrative jobs in the private sector before her retirement, but was foremost a loving and devoted mother to her four boys, of whom she was always proud. Words cannot express how much we will miss her.

The family warmly thanks her loyal and constant friend James Poluan, and her niece Ann Erdman, who both provided unwavering care and companionship to Lorna, most importantly throughout the latter years of her life. The family also thanks the staff of the Glebe Centre in Ottawa for the expert attention and care they offered Lorna throughout her time there.

Lorna will be inurned alongside her parents at Pinecrest Cemetery, plot 593N on Saturday May 20, 2023 at 10 am. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Glebe Centre are appreciated. Condolences, tributes or donations may be made at www.tubmanfuneralhomes.com.
