Lenard Nelson Baird

It is with heavy hearts, our family announces that Len passed away at the Civic Hospital on May 19, 2025 after a long and fulfilling life. He just celebrated his 95th birthday on May 9th, with family and friends.

Len was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was the first born son of Merville and Odo Baird and lived his whole life in the west end of Ottawa. Len started his career with E.R. Fishers then started his own business in men’s wear sales, travelling throughout the Ottawa Valley.

Beloved husband of 64 years to the late Barbara Baird (nee Lee) and much loved father of Heather Parsons, Peter Baird (Pamela), and Joanne Minkus (Mitch). Proud papa to Lyndsey, Matt (Sara), Stephanie (Adam), Ben (Morgan), Andrew (Michelle), Connor (Dana), as well as great grandfather to Addysen, Zackary, Kennedi, Joshua, Evan, Ella, Owen, Beau, Charlie, Kaia and Hanna.

He will be missed by his brother David Baird (Marion) and his many nieces and nephews.

Predeceased by sister Audrey Whittle (Doug), brother Stan Baird (Marion) and son-in-law Stewart Parsons.

Len enjoyed golfing and curling and was a dedicated member of the West Ottawa Rotary Club for 65 years. Len and Barb loved to travel and socialize with their many friends from Parkdale United Church, Carleton Heights Curling Club, and Carleton Golf and Yacht Club.

Len will be fondly remembered as a gentle kind soul who loved his family.

A funeral service will be held at Parkdale United Church, 429 Parkdale Avenue, Ottawa on Tuesday June 10, 2025 at 11 a.m. followed by a reception in the Parkdale United Church Memorial Hall.
