Lee M. Johnson

March 15, 1966 — February 25, 2024

Johnson, Lee M.

March 15, 1966 - February 25, 2024

Lee passed surrounded by love and family following a brief but courageous battle with colon cancer. Beloved husband and best friend of 9 years to Kelly. Loving father to Aaron and Baillie (Brittany). Loving step father to Brandon, Courtney (Patrick) and Mikeal. Adored grandfather to Cohen and Skyler. Dear brother of Andrea and step brother to Julie, Linda, Lori, Steven, Karen and Sandie. Predeceased by his parents Colin and Kathleen and step parents Norm and Diane.

Lee worked at Neptec and then MDA for a total of 23 years, he described it as his dream job to work on space flight hardware. Lee had many interests that he was passionate about including Dragonboat and his OC1, hiking, traveling, camping, fishing and many more. His passion for dragonboat saw him and his team win medals in the 2019 Canadian Championships in Regina and gain a spot in the 2022 Club Crew World Championships in Sarasota Florida where his team won two silvers just six weeks before his cancer diagnosis. The family would like to express our sincere gratitude to the many friends and family who have reached out and sent kind words of condolences and offering to help. When everything shut down in 2020, Lee and Kelly were well on their way to becoming 46ers. They had already finished 9 of the 46 high peaks of the Adirondacks and were excited to get back to it. Kelly will carry on and finish those other high peaks to become a 46er in Lee’s honour.

A Celebration of his Life will be held at the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 636, 70 Hines Road, Kanata, ON. K2K 2M5 on Friday, March 1, 2024 from 4 to 7 p.m. For those who wish, please consider a memorial donation in Lee’s memory to Colorectal Cancer Canada or The Ottawa Cancer Foundation both of which help support patients and their families as they navigate their cancer care.
