Kenneth Bowes

November 28, 1941 — April 25, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Kenneth Osbourne Bowes on April 25, 2025, at the age of 83. Born on November 28, 1941, in South Porcupine, Ontario, Ken was the devoted son of the late Irene (Helmer) and Osbourne Bowes.

Ken was predeceased by his beloved wife, Susan Bowes (Price), the love of his life. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Shirley Stone (Alvin) and Barbara Patterson (Gordon); his brother, William Bowes (May); and his precious granddaughter, Rheanna Laderoute, a shining joy in his life, whose time with us was taken far too soon.

He is survived by his children, Donna Bowes and Brad Bowes, whom he loved deeply and endlessly; his cherished granddaughter, Kassandra Costabile (Neco) the light of his life and constant source of pride, and his dear companion, Bonnie Nelms, who brought renewed joy and new love into his later years. Ken will be fondly remembered by his brother-in-law, Paul (Sharon) Price, their children Leah (Brad) Dowdell, Scott (Stacy) Price and Dale Price, and his many friends from his cherished Wednesday breakfasts, Thursday poker nights, Sunday night dances, and countless others, including beloved cousins and lifelong friends he’s made along the way.

Ken’s wisdom and endless stories left a lasting impression on everyone he encountered; his conversations were rich with life lessons, and his presence was a source of both comfort and insight. His warmth, humour, and unwavering love will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family extends heartfelt gratitude to the ICU team at Ottawa Civic Hospital for their exceptional care, with special thanks to nurses Megan, Molly, Brittany, and Jenny for their compassion and support during Ken’s final days.

A Memorial Service will be held at Dunrobin United Church, 2701 Dunrobin Road, followed by interment, during the week of May 5th. Date and time to be confirmed in the coming days.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to organizations that hold a special meaning:

The 3 Wishes Project, which provided our family with compassionate and meaningful end-of-life care, or the Dunrobin United Church, a cherished part of Ken and Susan’s spiritual community.
