It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Keith Patterson, aged 81, on Wednesday, September 23rd, 2026.
Born in Springhill, Nova Scotia, Keith was the son of Elmer and Myrtle (née Keith) Patterson and grew up in the neighbouring town of Oxford. He attended Mount Allison University and the Nova Scotia Technical College, graduating as an electrical engineer. Having gone to university through the ROTP, he went on to serve with the Canadian Armed Forces in Summerside, PEI.
In 1973, Keith began his career with Computing Devices Canada, later General Dynamics, where he enjoyed a long and rewarding career and made many lifelong friendships.
Keith will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 58 years, Sheila (née MacCulloch); his daughter, Larissa (Rob); and his son, Kris (Andrea). He was a very proud “Grumpy” to Lauren, Wyatt, and Wade. He was also a much-loved brother-in-law and uncle to his extended MacCulloch family.
Keith found happiness in the simple things - downhill skiing, cheering on his beloved Montreal Canadiens, tending to his very large garden that included several varieties of super-duper hot peppers, and boating and fishing at his “cottage” on the Rideau River. He was always grateful for the friendships that he made over the years and for the many memories shared with family, friends, neighbours, and colleagues.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, November 21st, from 1:00-4:00 p.m. at the Manotick Legion. Casual attire is encouraged - jeans, track pants, or shorts are all welcome.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the University of Ottawa Heart Institute, the Ottawa Hospital Foundation (Multi Care Kidney Clinic), or to a charity of your choice.
Many thanks to our family, friends, and neighbours who helped us through this sad time, and supported us with compassion and care.
