Peacefully at Queensway-Carleton Hospital, February 12, 2023, aged 81. Karen was born in Brockville March 30, 1941, the daughter of Karl Nathan Paupst, and his wife Mary Penina Gladys (Mulligan). Karen grew up in Almonte where her father operated Karl’s Grocery from 1945 to 1956, and graduated from Almonte High School in 1960. Moving to Ottawa, she followed a family tradition dating back to 1905 by working with the Canadian Bank Note Company, from 1968 until her retirement. She enjoyed travel, skating, square dancing, textile crafts, baking, and her feline companions Jamie, Mike, Toby and Terry.
She is survived by her cousin Graeme Elliott (predeceased by Graeme's wife Betty) and his children Bruce and Cindy and their families, and predeceased by her cousin Harry Elliott and his son Corey, but survived by Harry's wife Lorraine and their children Lesley, Janice, Tracey, Lance, and their and Corey's families. The family is grateful for Janice's care in Karen's later years. Thanks also to The Westwood and New Orchard Lodge for the care they provided.
